KOSTER ANNOUNCES ENDORSEMENTS FROM SLATE OF COUNTY PROSECUTORS

Backing of 19 Officials from Across Missouri Highlights Widespread Support within Law Enforcement Community

Senator Chris Koster today unveiled the endorsements of 19 county prosecutors from throughout Missouri in his bid for Attorney General. This significant display of support is yet another indication that the law enforcement community is rallying around his candidacy.

“As Cass County prosecutor for ten years, I learned firsthand the vital role the Attorney General can play in working with local law enforcement to aggressively prosecute sexual predators, fight violent crime and drugs in our communities, and stand up to big business on behalf of consumers,” said Senator Koster.“The decision in this race is not about politics. It is about who is most qualified and best prepared to be our state’s chief law enforcement officer and tackle the clear challenges we face. I am proud to have so many of the men and women in law enforcement support my candidacy for Attorney General.”

“Chris Koster is the only candidate who has experience fighting crime in the both the courtroom and the capital,” said St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCullough. “In a decade as a prosecutor, he showed he knows how to win cases at all levels, from the county courthouse to the Supreme Court. And in the legislature, he was the one candidate in the race to offer a comprehensive plan to attack Meth from every angle. Chris Koster has the leadership and experience to be the top law enforcement official in the state.”

“Having interrogated and convicted some of Missouri’s most violent criminals, Chris Koster knows what it means to stare evil in the face and not bat an eye,” added Dunklin County Prosecutor Steve Sokoloff. “He will bring the same grit and determination to the Attorney General’s Office to aggressively fight for the safety and well-being of Missouri families.”

The law enforcement officials who have thrown their support behind Koster for Attorney General include: Nodaway County Prosecuting Attorney David Baird, Shannon County Prosecutor Jodi Barnes, Knox County Prosecutor David Brown, Hickory County Prosecutor Jim Hackett, Pemiscot County Prosecutor Michael Hazel, Bates County Prosecuting Attorney Hugh Jenkins, Reynolds County Prosecutor Robert Johnson, Barton County Prosecutor Steven Kaderly, Moniteau County Prosecutor John Kay, St. Louis County Prosecutor Robert McCulloch, Ripley County Prosecutor Chris Miller, Scotland County Prosecutor Kimberly Nicoli, New Madrid County Prosecutor Lewis Recker, Washington County Prosecutor John Rupp, Jr., Buchanan County Prosecuting Attorney Dwight Scroggins, Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney Stephen Sokoloff, Callaway County Prosecutor Bob Sterner, Clark County Prosecutor Scott Summers, and Adair County Prosecutor Mark Williams.

With their endorsements, these county prosecutors join the overwhelming support Chris Koster has received from the law enforcement community including the Missouri State Fraternal Order of Police and Missouri Deputy Sheriffs’ Association.

Senator Koster served as Cass County Prosecutor for ten years and has represented the 31st State Senate District for four years. He is the only experienced prosecutor in the race, and has pledged to make enforcing the law, not political gamesmanship, the cornerstone of both his campaign and tenure as Missouri’s next Attorney General.
